Last week we put the final touches on a StoryMapJS update.
As we were wrapping things up, we started to look for fun way to show off the new GigaPixel tool, which allows you to use the StoryMap interface to explain what’s happening in a static image.
Eventually we decided to follow the Game of Thrones character Arya through the show’s imagined world of Westeros.
The Lab’s operations and project manager (and resident Game of Thrones expert), Jordan Young, found an image of Westeros online, cleverly using Google Image’s minimum size filter to quickly find an image of sufficient size. Then she built out the StoryMap as she would have with any other project.
You can see a full-size instance here and the iframe instance above. If you’ve got some need for the map, feel free to use the iframe code below. For the readers, here is a version of the map based on the books (SPOILERS).
As always, we’re really excited to see what people build with out tools. If you use StoryMap (particularly the GigaPixel image version) be sure to share with us on Twitter so we can see what you’ve done.
