Knight Lab wins an Online Journalism Award for Congressional Primaries

The Knight Lab won an award at the Online News Association conference in San Francisco last week!

We won in the Planned News/Event category for our work on Congressional Primaries. The project was a ton of work and literally everyone in the Lab contributed code, research, partnership development, or publicity so it was nice to get some recognition for such a collaborative effort. Thanks also to the broadcasters and publishers around the state who adopted our technology based solely on trust and goodwill.

(Check out previous entries on Congressional Primaries for a detailed description of the project.)

Overall the award was a small part of a really great weekend at the ONA12 conference. It was a weekend full of energy, new ideas, and people who are focused on creating the future of journalism—an energizing event that we’re looking forward to going back to next year.

In the meantime, we’ll look to the work of other nominees for inspiration and new ideas.
